Narrative: What does the clip suggest about this particular storyline for Waterloo Road? What do you expect to happen? How might the new character impact on existing storylines?

The clip lets the viewers know that there is a new character joining the show and the first impression that she gives off is that she comes from a rich family because of the car that they own and the fact that their number plate is also customised which now days costs a lot of money. The new character might impact the existing storyline as maybe a threat to the main character for example she could be a competitor for a love interest or she could turn out as her best friend.

Character: What school-based stereotypes can you recognise in the clip? How does the clip introduce the new characters in the show?

You can see that there are a lot of people scattered across the entrance and considering that the school just had a fire alarm this isn't really sending out a positive image about the school as it is showing that the teachers don't really care about their students health or safety. The scene introduces new characters such as Gabriella and her parents. Their family seems to be a higher class family as they mention that the only reason that they sent Gabriella to the school was to teach her discipline.

Iconography: What elements of the clip help to quickly introduce the school subgenre of TV Drama?

The fact that they are wearing school uniform helps to quickly introduce the school subgenre of TV Drama as it immediately lets the viewer know that the show is based in a school. Also you can see the two teachers discussing about the new student which also reinsures the viewers that the show is based in a school. Also you can see that the students aren't really listening to the teachers which is a typical stereotype when talking about schools.

Setting: How does the clip quickly introduce the school setting?

The setting of the show is quickly introduced when the students are seen with there uniform on as that immediately lets the reader know that the show is based in a school. It also quickly introduces the school setting by showing us all the different stereotypes for example there are two different groups which are the guys and girls and this is a massive stereotype commonly used in TV shows based around school.
